First things first this is a great netbook!!
Outstanding battery life (6 to 7 hrs when running demanding programs) and a good performing prcessor!
the ram is easily changed to 2 gig if you want and the running temprature is fairly cool on your legs! :)
best of all the build quality is outstanding!!
however i have used this and the asus eee pe 1005ha and to be honest i prefered the asus! Its slightly faster and has a good asus interface along with online storage! better spec for a much cheeper price!
All in all a good buy but the asus wins it for me on price and performance

I bought this baby laptop netbook because I knew I would be uncomfortable sitting at my desktop for a couple of weeks after an abdominal operation which I was due to have. Also I travel a lot and as more and more trains and hotels can connect you to WiFi I decided I was ready for a light portable laptop. I did quite a lot of research and Samsung seemed to be the one, though not the cheapest. I am delighted with this little machine and - just as I hoped - it has been great to sit in bed with it on my knees catching up with emails, shopping, surfing, BBCi player etc!
I had no problems setting the netbook up and connecting to wireless. The screen is brilliant and extremely sharp for watching video and the keyboard fine - I adapted to it easily. Being used to a desktop I was happier with the netbook when I plugged in a mini optical mouse. I have sometimes used it on battery - the long battery life is a great selling point and it charges very quickly when plugged in again. Definitely no complaints except I wish it came in a choice of bright colours like the N310 which didn't get such good reviews .....

Adding to the other reviews I just got this for a steal (No I did not steal it although it is very desireable so be careful when out and about with it). Here we have a laptop in a netbook size. It's fast. It's got a gorgeous 10.1" display (It's a glossy display so may put some off if you want to use it outside or where there is strong light behind you) and it weighs very little.
he keyboard is very useable. Not suffering from those finger spacing and tiny keys like some netbooks. The keys are also responsive to touch. The pad is big enough to get around without slipping your finger off the sides too often. It also has some nice functionality like scrolling and pinching etc.
The biggest appeal is the battery life. Amazing! You can use it all day pretty much without worrying about finding a power socket. It's also fairly light and sturdy.
There are some caveats with setting up a netbook. The screen resolution meant I had to connect it to a larger monitor in order to install some software for my DSLR. The Canon EOS utilty would not install because it complained the resolution was too low. But that's just a quirk of that software I guess.
It also comes with a case which I did not know about. I purchased a case seperately and would advise others to do so too. The case supplied is flimsy and does not have a zipper or even velcro fastening. Just a flap. If you want more protection then get something better.
If you don't wish to lug around a laptop but can't stomach something tiny and hard to use this is the better compromise.

Good points:
* starts up quickly

* battery life up to 4.5 hours
Not so good points:
* screen is less bright on battery than it is on mains power - you'll struggle to see any detail in regular daylight (may be adjustable, but this appears to be the factory setting)
* sound (for iTunes etc) is truly rubbish - i know its a small netbook but i expected better from Samsung
* still waiting for my cashback from Samsung - a month on from purchase
* Windows software is only a year's subscription - then you have to buy it (not clear when netbook was purchased)

This Netbook arrived promptly and well packed. Out of the box it looked good but a little too plasticky. It came with no real handbook and it took much time to find the code for the 12 months trial of Microsoft Office. Everything else was as expected of the Windows XP system although a little disappointed that it did not have Windows 7 as the Samsung website said that it was equipped with the latter. Battery life around 5 hours the first time of use. Still waiting for the cashback from Samsung, I registered it on line but received no acknowledgement.

This product is all about the portabillity. Its neat compact and stylish. Make sure you get one with a 6 cell battery. They are doing a new one now with windows 7 basic, which if you like the idea could be the one for you, the ones with XP have the older operating system, with less cracks to smooth out however, and the functionality of a full operating system not a cut down one. Upgrade to 2gb of ram if you buy this. Its slightly pricey compared to some other options, which is why it only gets 4 stars. but you cant put a price on cool, and it does look really cool (in my opinion), i get about 9 hours on one charge, which varies depending on internet usage, video watching and how bright you set the screen too.
Overall, a standard netbook, with a great battery (if its 6 cell, i hear some are only 4 cell) and great looks.

This really is a great little netbook. It's robust, stylish, small but not too fiddly to use. I had no problems adding software, which doesn't seemed to have slowed it down, the battery life is incredible and the screen quality is wonderfully clear. I'm really pleased I bought this product. It was also recommended as the best laptop for commuters in this months (Oct 09) Focus magazine.

The good things first. Fantastic battery life; neat, compact design; good screen; sensible-size keyboard that doesn't require fingers like matchsticks; terrific back-up system; excellent 160GB harddrive.
Bad things. Crappy sound quality; desperately slow; niggling faults.
This is a very good notebook to buy as a highly portable backup to your 'main' computer. But it simply doesn't have enough speed to be your one and only computer. The Intel Atom processor's response times can be measured in seconds - rather than fractions of seconds - and the more programs you have open, the slower it gets. Sound quality on headphones is fine; using the inboard speakers is utterly inadequate. Even with the volume cranked up as high as poss, it's still quiet, and the sound itself is thin and tinny. Very poor. The OS is Windows XP Home. OK as far as it goes. If you're OK with the little niggles that lurk in every Windows OS, you won't mind the occasional irritation that crops up. Otherwise, it'll get increasingly annoying.
Samsung have made the N310 fairly easy to find your way around. The preloaded manuals are OK as are the inbuilt 'Help' areas. Build quality is solid - but not glitch free. For example, the F1 key - supposed to be a short-cut to 'Help' - doesn't work on my machine. Silly design fault that you can't recharge it while it's in its little protective case. The backup system - which will save/restore all your settings/data if everything crashes - is time-consuming to operate, but an invaluable safety device if you use this computer to store important/irreplaceable info. NB too - and this might be a vital factor for some - there is no CD/DVD drive.
For the price, this is a decent and good value computer. The fact that it's enjoyed great success and good reviews might be a reflection on what else is available rather than its own excellence. I'm happy with mine and have learned to live with its limitations. But I'm thankful I also have a more powerful (and of course more expensive) laptop for 'real' work, The N310 is good. But it's not great.

I bought the samsung n310 a month ago and I'm very happy with it. It is light, well design and comfortable. The keybord is excelent (93% size) and the pebble style is really useful, but the main feature is the led display. Really bright with good definition.
The only thing to complain about is the trackpad button.
I'm writing this from the last ubuntu (9.10) and almost everything works out of the box except the keyboard shortcuts to enable/disable wifi, bluetooth and brightness control.
Performance is as every other netbook today but what really make the difference is its display.

This is positively the worst laptop I have ever owned. The cursor jumps all over the place, the right caps lock button is unreachable, and the machine does unpredictable things like highlighting bits of text suddenly enlarging or putting in bold, or shrinking the text to a row of dots. Do not be seduced - as I was - by the packaging and design, and outlay your money for it.
